Politics live: Focus on the Government’s relations with Māori amid Section 7AA repeal

Former Children’s Minister Tracey Martin has spoken out against the government’s plans to repeal Section 7AA from the Oranga Tamariki Act.

Parliament’s Social Services and Community Committee has been hearing submissions on the legislation to repeal Section 7AA, which binds Oranga Tamariki to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.

It comes as the political focus remains on children with the Education Minister Erica Stanford warning there’s a lot more change to come in the sector following the government’s announcement it is bringing forward changes to the maths curriculum.
