The wording of a draft bill on the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi is expected to be released very soon.

The Act Party wants to rewrite the principles that are defined in law, and replace them with its own, based on an interpretation of Te Tiriti that bears scant resemblance to the 1840 agreement. National has signalled it will support the bill being introduced, but not beyond select committee.
