Anger is rising over Te Whatu Ora efforts to claw COVID-19 funding back from Pacific practices in south Auckland.

“I am trying to temper my words because I’m so pissed off,” says Api Talemaitoga, who was the public face of the national Pacific vaccination drive.

Ongoing Te Whatu Ora audits of COVID-19-related spending are “disrespectful, painful and disgusting” and are applying hindsight to a critical and uncertain time when the race was on to boost Pacific vaccination rates in south Auckland, Dr Talemaitoga, a specialist GP, says.
